British independent luxury eyewear brand Cutler and Gross launches its 2024 spring and summer series: Desert Playground.
The collection pays homage to the sun-drenched Palm Springs era. An unparalleled collection of 8 styles – 7 eyeglasses and 5 sunglasses – interweaves classic and contemporary silhouettes with the architectural magnificence of Bianquan. Each style reflects the grandeur of 1950s Hollywood movies and draws inspiration from the modernist architecture of this bygone era, frozen in time by Julius Schulman’s photography.
The Collection
Looking at the winged frames worn on screen in the 1950s and 1960s, the 1409 subverts expectations with a curved brown bar and flat edges.
1409
The optically square structure of 1410 was determined by the geometry of mid-century modernist architecture.
1410
The square, angular frames of 1960s movie theaters set the stage for the scenes in 1411. A straight brow bar and slanted ears create the impression of a genderless cat eye.
1411
9241 Cat Eye celebrates its glamorous past while using a new gift that was frozen in time during a paparazzi shoot in Palm Springs.
9241
The vibe of 1950s Hollywood, an era of effortless style and dazzling glamor, is distilled into the 9261. Sleek silhouettes, polished to perfection, available in sunglasses and optical options.
9261
The octagonal design of the 9324 conveys a maximized sunglass look that pays homage to the cinematic glamor of Sophie Loren in 1950s Hollywood.
9234
The shape of the 9495 sunglasses adopts the expertise of the 1960s – block contours are cut away at the brow bar and chamfered with sloping edges.
9495
A square sunglasses, Cutler and Gross way. 9690 is our creative director’s selection framework. It pays homage to the angular styles popular in Hollywood, with modernist core lines that pay homage to the inspiration behind the design: 1950s Palm Springs.
