For nearly two decades, RETROSUPERFUTURE has been creating rugged eyewear designs that have become iconic classics while also driving cutting-edge seasonal trends. For the new collection, RSF reaffirmed its unique brand ethos: a desire to create sunglasses that are fresh and playful, while focusing on timelessness and function. RSF's signature approach is characterized by experimentation in craftsmanship, color, and finish, elevating everyday eyewear into distinctive contemporary designs.
For SS23, RSF presents a new vision of a modern street aesthetic, characterized by a mix of aviator styles and oversized sunglasses, each exuding personality. This season also welcomes the return of more prominent and experimental metallic silhouettes. Spazio and Stereo redefine sleek metal construction with unexpected geometries and thick rims.
Stereo
High-end detailing and RSF branding complete each silhouette, setting RSF's vision for the upcoming Spring/Summer.
To convey these special pieces, RETROSUPERFUTURE collaborated with artist Jim C Nedd to create images that are as colorful and intense as the glasses themselves. Colombian/Italian artist Jim C Nedd interprets RSF's eccentric SS23 metal sunglasses collection on the coast of Cartagena, Colombia.
Spazio
As renowned art historian Daniel Berndt writes in Aperture: Nedd combined a documentary approach with elements of staging and stylization to create a unique hybrid aesthetic. Using the glamorous and psychological aspects of fashion photography, he aims to inspire and resonate with desire, bringing strong contrasts, artificial light, and an almost tactile visual language into dialogue with spontaneously captured scenes in their natural surroundings.
