Optyx Studio, a long-running family-owned designer and manufacturer of premium eyewear, is proud to introduce its newest collection, Tocco Eyewear. The frameless, threadless, customizable collection will debut at this year’s Vision Expo West, showcasing Studio Optyx’s seamless blend of high-quality craftsmanship and cutting-edge optical innovation.
Tocco was designed by opticians to simplify the complexities of rimless eyewear, focus on accessibility to retailers, and make style, comfort and quality top priorities for patients, creating an unparalleled eyewear experience. This is achieved through a customizable system that allows retailers to display the entire range, inviting patients to explore seemingly endless combinations. With a variety of beautiful colors, frame models and lens shapes, patients can create eyewear that complements their personal style like never before.
Tocco glasses are inspired by the simplest luxuries in life and adopt a minimalist design approach. High-quality craftsmanship remains at the forefront of every frame, while unnecessary decoration is cast aside, allowing the patient’s color and lens shape selections to breathe life into the collection. Tocco’s attention to detail is evident in the refined styling of its ultra-thin titanium components and custom threadless hinges. Industry standard 2-hole lens-to-frame mounting design ensures easy integration into most internal drilling systems.
Each Tocco frame is crafted from surgical-grade titanium to withstand the demands of daily life, offering durability, flexibility, and hypoallergenic properties for a feather-light feel. Unparalleled comfort is the hallmark of Tocco glasses, with silicone nose pads and velvety matte temple sleeves that weigh only 12 grams when assembled.
Experience the future of rimless eyewear at Vision Expo West suite #35-205, where Studio Optyx invites you to take a first look at the Tocco eyewear collection.
Design: With new product releases each spring and fall, we conduct in-depth research each year on the latest and upcoming trends in the optical, retail and fashion industries to help inspire our designs. Our family has been doing this since the late 1800s, finding new ways to innovate our craft along the way.
Materials: We use the highest quality materials possible that best benefit the design and the wearer. Our frames are primarily made from cellulose acetate (a biodegradable bioplastic that offers high durability and flexibility) and surgical grade stainless steel (generally considered hypoallergenic). While cellulose acetate does generate some waste during its production, it is more sustainable than its standard alternatives and has no adverse effects when returned to our environment.
All metal frames are made from surgical-grade stainless steel with low risk of allergic reactions. Any metal parts in our frames that come into contact with the skin are made from this material, including the screws in the hinges, which have a non-slip coating for strong, long-lasting support. We use silicone on the nose pads for ultimate comfort.
Our acetate frames feature a wire core, typically made from nickel silver, which reinforces the acetate frame to reduce the risk of breakage. Nickel silver is more flexible than surgical stainless steel, making the acetate frame more flexible and more customizable.
Based on the preliminary design of our frame, we use a 3D printer to ensure our standards of excellence are met and make necessary adjustments before going into production. Each acetate color mix is custom designed in-house and exclusive to our brand.
Production: Erkers1879 and NW77th handcrafted acetate frames undergo a 48-step manufacturing process with unparalleled attention to detail. We have established cooperative relationships with factories in South Korea and Japan, which are known for their meticulous quality control.
After initially cutting the acetate sheets, the frame fronts are tumbled in a mixture of wood and natural oils and then hand-polished to achieve a silky-smooth finish. The frame is then assembled using high-quality hinges, rivets and screws, using metal frame welding techniques.
